Jesus over Everything

It’s easy for Jesus to become just a thing in our lives, but Jesus has to be everything and above everything!
Jesus over everything isn’t just a well meaning statement.
It’s a life choice that whatever comes my way, I’m standing on the unshakable rock.
When you’re walking through new situations and change, instead of being afraid, you can be confident because you are connected to the one who doesn’t change.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭
#1. BE FIRMLY FOUNDED ON THE ROCK.
We must have a firm foundation, and that foundation is Jesus.
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:10‬ ‭
We must always call on the name of Jesus!
If our faith is not FOUNDED and built upon the rock, Jesus… then we cannot be firm in anything else.
We’ll shift with the sand blown by the storm.
We’ll go along with what “feels right”.
But the Bible says, our hearts are deceitful above all else!
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know (or understand) it?”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17:9‬ ‭
We can’t follow our hearts. We have to connect our hearts to the heart of the Father.
We can’t live exactly like the world and expect to be able to change the world.
We can’t do what the world does and expect to walk in the fullness of what God intended.
Jesus must be our foundation in which our faith comes from.  If we know he is our rock, we’ll remember to cling to the rock when everything is raging around us.
#2. GET CONNECTED.
We need to connect to the source.
A device without a power cord is useless.
I can place my phone near the cord, but that won’t charge it at all.
It’ll simply be close by.
Some people will say that you need to be close to God, but that isn’t close enough.
We need to be more than close to God, we have to be connected to him!
Once we have chosen to be ONE with God, daily seeking his face, then it is much harder for us to be moved away from him when the storms of life come.
#2 STAY CONNECTED-
Prayer and immersing yourself into the word connects us to God. It reveals his heart to us.
  • LOVE THE WORD: The more you read the Bible, the more you will want to read your bible.
What we are putting into ourselves is what is going to come out.
Read your bible every single day! Set aside a special time and place.
If you don’t know what to read, psalms and proverbs is a great place to start.
Also, start reading through a book of the bible and finish it before going onto the next one. (I’m pretty fond of Hebrews right now!)
  • PRAY MORNING AND NIGHT:  Prayer takes our eyes off of our situations, and places them on God.
When we are looking to God and surrendering our worries to him, our fears shift into faith.
We are saying , “Lord I trust in you in this situation or in this area of my life”.
1 Peter 5:7- PUT all of your worries and anxieties on God, because he cares for you.
PRAY IN THE SPIRIT: Acts 1:8- You WILL receive power when the holy spirit comes upon you!
We need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives.
When we don’t know WHAT to pray, The spirit does and he will pray exactly what we need.
He also prompts us to do the right thing, to convict us,  and to direct us.
When Jesus went up to heaven, he sent the Holy Spirit as our helper.
So, let us not forget we have a helper!
JOURNAL: When we write down what we are learning and hearing from God, it helps our growth
In the future, we can also go back and remember what he has done for us!
It’s important to remember our victories and the Lord’s faithfulness when the accuser is trying to remind us of our failures.
It’s time to get back to the basics.
The more time you spend with Him, the more you’ll know His heart. The more you know His heart, the more you’ll desire to be like him.
In what ways can you cultivate a deeper intimacy and intentionality in your daily living with Christ?
He’s not just a thing to put on our t-shirts and coffee mugs, He’s everything.

Clicking The Refresh Button

Faith comes by hearing.

Not once, not twice, but hearing over and over.

We have to click the ‘refresh’ button on our minds every day, every hour, every minute.

Fear doesn’t only try and break in once a day…

Lately, anxiety comes pounding at the door of my mind every time I hear the news, scroll my social media feeds or step foot into a grocery store.

For this reason,  Faith must continuously be increasing through what we are ‘snacking on’ per se.

That sounds a little weird, I agree.

But we are repeatedly fed anxious thoughts.

We can either snack on them until we are full or we can feed ourselves with faith, leaving no room for fear to reside.

My baby girl still drinks bottles, but she is at the transitional stage where we are weaning her from formula into drinking regular milk. We do this by mixing formula and regular milk together.

I noticed lately that I have been pouring too much hot water in for the formula first, and not leaving enough space for the milk. Therefore, it is too hot to give her and she has to wait to drink it. (Hungry babies do not like to wait for their bottles!)

I was a holding an overly hot bottle and had an epiphany.

If I would only pour the milk first, then I wouldn’t continue to have this issue.

Yes, If we would only be FILLED up with a faith that is being refreshed anew, then there would be no room left for fear and anxiety to settle into our minds.

Be on guard about what you are allowing yourself to hear and dwell on.

Take every thought captivate. Set your mind on the things above. Turn off the news, open the word of God. Hide it in your heart so it is what flows out when you need it. Write it on your arm or in your journal, write it on your mirror, or your letter board.

Do whatever it takes to hear and continue hearing words that bring life and peace.

Faith comes by hearing.

Embracing your Brush Stroke

God has placed his unique brush stroke on you.

When re-doing my bedroom furniture, I was chalk paint happy and loved how it came out. However, my husband wanted to help and I let him paint one drawer. Admitedly, I was afraid that he wouldn’t follow the grain pattern right or allow what I thought was the right amount of wood show through the paint.

Time allowed the paint to dry and the final look to be revealed. Brady put the drawers back together and assembled the dresser to put my creative heart in awe. Except, I saw the one drawer he painted. It was completely slathered in paint and looked different than all of the ones I painted.

In art, brush strokes are a “the configuration given to paint by contact with the bristles of brush”, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

Simply put, this is the finishing touch of the painter’s creativity,  the remaining shape once the brush is lifted up.

There may be many a hundred thousand others with the same PAINT as you,  but there is no one else who possesses the same brush strokes that you do.

The world needs your originality, your talents and your inimitable anointing.

The thing that is distinct about you is what sets you a part.

It brings a unique emphasis to your calling.

Instead of talking yourself out of doing what you were created to do, it’s time to

OWN YOUR BRUSH STROKE.

Perhaps you are trying to use someone else brush strokes because it works for them.

My three year old son has a pair of shoes he loves to wear, but they aren’t quite his size. So every time he goes to jump on a rock or skip down the road, he slips and falls down.

Perhaps you also are wearing shoes that don’t fit.

You keep falling down when you try to run, you scrape your knees when you try to land the jump. It’s not that what you are doing is wrong, it’s that you can’t do it right because you don’t have the gear meant for you. God has given you specific talents and ways that may not look like other people’s ways.

Perhaps you are trying to wear the kings armor, but you are struggling to carry it, like David. (Yet, he opted out of the armor and used his sling and some stones because that was what he knew already worked for him. )

Don’t be discouraged. It was never meant to fit you!

Instead, ask the Lord, what is YOUR way for me? What is your strategy FOR ME?

“What is my brush stroke?” And as you discover it, embrace it and let it shine!

The world needs the light you possess and the way you shine it.

Will you set aside the kings armor and pick up your sling, even if it feels silly?

You never know what may come of your courage.

Fully Loaded

I heard a whisper,  “FULLY LOADED”.

What exactly does that mean?

It sounds powerful, it sounds ready.

It sounds as if there’s no empty space inside and no detail unattended.

Fully equipped. Fully stocked. Like a powerful weapon. A gun.

When it’s fully loaded, it’s ready for battle.

When it’s empty, it’s nothing more than great power gone to wastecompletely useless.

The time has come to WATCH and PRAY.

and prayer is an ammunition unlike any other.

The Lord is calling us to wake up, rise up and get filled up.

Living a lifestyle of prayer will change you and equip you.

Are you ready to live your life fully loaded;  ready to be shot out with power and accuracy?

Then pray:

Lord, fill me up with your anointing.  Let your Word be stored up in my heart that I may be ready and fully equipped on the day you are ready  to fire me into the world.

I don’t want to miss the target when my trigger is pulled because there was no ammunition found inside.

I refuse to be great potential found lacking, but dangerous in the right hands.

Fill me up, Lord.
Amen.

Grow Where You Are Planted

“Take root, my darling”, He whispers in the silence.

It’s all too simple to desire other-ness, that which is other than where we are or what we are doing.

Sometimes I feel stuck or that I’m not where I think I belong.

However, I believe that God plants us in places that He sees fit.

He knows the whole picture, we are just the creation. So, this morning, as I spent time with my creator, He urged:

“Take root, my darling.”

He uses the soil to grow us and the environment to allow us to bloom.

But we must be grounded, planted, and rooted in the place that He has us right now.

We must know that He is trying to grow us in all the right ways, even if we can’t see it.

There is no growth for a flower that is not planted.

He speaks, “Walks in my ways and you will flourish.”

I thank you, Lord, that you are trust-worthy and a part from you I have nothing good.

I will choose to trust you and take root in the present soil.

I will praise you throughout the journey and during the growing seasons.

I will grow where you plant me; I do not know where else could be a better place.

Lord, help me to follow your path and not be distracted by the things that do not matter. I love you. Thank you for delighting in me.
